O God; incline your ear and hear my words).
The Easter Season concluded with Pentecost (May 11), and
the following two weekends of Ordinary Time were superseded
by two Solemnities (Trinity, Corpus Christi). This weekend
we enter fully into the long segment of the Season of Ordinary
Time, and set aside the Schubert/Proulx Deutsche Messe Ordinary
to use other familiar Mass Ordinary settings for the summertime.
Alexandre Gulmant (1837-1911) wrote (1888)(Opus 65 Book 4)
Offertoire and Sortie for the Feast of the Sacred Heart
(celebrated this year on May 30).
Charles Theodore Pachelbel (1690-1750) emigrated to the
USA in 1733; only a few of his works survive, among which
is the double choir Magnificat presented in honor of the
Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary (May 31).
We presented (Mar 30) the same text in a composition by his
father Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706).
