Music Notes:

This weekend at the Saturday 5 pm (Vigil) Mass the Music
is led by the School Choir (directed by Rebecca Monson).

The Communion Antiphon (Graduale Romanum Chant Proper):
Tanto tempore vobiscum sum, et non cognovistis me? Philippe,
qui videt me, videt et Patrem, alleluia. Non credis quia ego
in Patre, et Pater in me est? Alleluia, alleluia (Have I been
with you so long, and yet you do not know me? Philip, he who
sees me, sees the Father. Do you not believe that I am in the
Father, and the Father in me? Alleluia, alleluia).

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) wrote the Cantata (BWV 118)
movement in 1740 while living in Leipzig. The text: O Jesu Christ,
meins Lebens Licht, / mein Hort, mein Trost, mein Zuversicht, /
auf Erden bin ich nur ein Gast, / und drückt mich sehr der Sünden
Last (O Jesu Christ, light of my life, / my refuge, my comfort,
my trust, / on earth I am only a guest, / and the burden of sins
weighs heavily upon me).

The piece will be presented by our Festival Choir (accompanied
by chamber orchestra) on Sun May 18 at 3 pm, here in the church.
