1789 entered Zittau Gymnasium, studied with Cantor Schonfelder and Unger
1805 entered Leipsic University
1807 made organist of St Paul Church (is this Univ Church ??)
1811 quit University Church (succeeded by his bro Johann Gottlob Schneider)
1812-1821 organist St Thomas Church
1821 conductor the Duke of Sessau, held to death
1829 founded Dessau musical institute, organized Liedertafel, Singakademie and choral society
Elbe and Rhine Musical Festivals presented his oratorios:
The Last Judgement; The Deluge; Absalom; The Lord Jesus Christ; The Infancy of Christ;
Gideon; Paradise Lost; Pharaoh; Gethsemane and Golgotha;
fourteen masses
Te Deum
Gloria
five hymns; twenty-five cantatas; operas; sonatas; symphonies; overtures; concertos; songs
member of Berlin Academy, Stockholm Academy
